1. a disease in which parts of the body, usually the scrotum or legs, become greatly enlarged and the skin thickened and broken. It is caused by parasitic, filarial worms that block the flow of lymph.
2. Figurative. a disproportionate enlargement or exaggeration (of any object or quality): »
